Throughout history, young people have always been on the frontlines of social change.

So it’s no surprise that when it comes to climate change and the environmental crisis, young people are pushing aggressively to protect the environment, as events like wildfires, heatwaves, and floods across Canada pick up speed.

While these impacts are getting harder to ignore, the COVID-19 pandemic has in many ways put environmental issues on the back burner. But environmental advocacy — especially youth-led — is more important than ever as we inch closer to irreversible damage to the planet.

There’s one major problem: young people leading the environmental justice movement are often underestimated, and they don’t receive nearly the support they need.

That’s why Future of Good is thrilled to partner with The Lawson Foundation on a series of stories highlighting the innovative and vital environmental work led by youth from coast to coast to coast in Canada, delving into topics like the unique perspectives of young environmental leaders, calls to funders to support youth voices, the importance of connection to nature, and more.

Stay tuned for the series.
