Changemaker Health and Wellbeing
About This Series
GreenShield and Future of Good are taking a deeper look at the health and wellbeing of those on the front lines of care. Changemakers say they are burned out, stressed and under-resourced. We're looking to find solutions to help those who care, care for themselves. As a non-profit health and benefits company, GreenShield is committed to investing $75 million towards social impact initiatives with an aim to impact 1 million people by 2025. These stories and discussions should be highlighted, celebrated, shared and amplified across sectors to spark awareness, knowledge, inspire change, and empower changemakers to address health and wellbeing disparities in Canada.
Reducing the stigma of asking for mental health help in Black communities
Black and African women experience some of the highest levels of depression, yet they are also among the most hesitant to seek help. Greenshield and Black Mental Health Canada hope to shift the stigma.
Feeling anxious about tariffs, turmoil and Trump? Greenshield offers free mental health care to all Canadians
In some communities, mental health care is stigmatized, or there are barriers to access. This offer is an opportunity to try therapy and access resources for free.
Passion versus exhaustion: 2025 Changemaker Wellbeing Index reveals toll on Canada’s non-profit workers
Creating systemic change starts with understanding the problems. The Changemaker Wellbeing Index provides insights into the lived experiences of those working in the sector, shedding light on the pressures they face. It’s a valuable opportunity to pinpoint where meaningful improvements can be made, not only to strengthen the non-profit sector, but to build more resilient communities.

There is an urgent need for better funding models in the social sector that prioritize living wages and sustainability.
