It is with great excitement that I announce that Brennan Doherty and Katie Miller have joined the Future of Good team.Â
Brennan Doherty joins our team as our first feature writer. The world is changing more quickly and more dramatically than ever before. So, we were looking for someone to join us who is curious about the effects economic and societal changes are having on non-profits, charities, social enterprises, and foundations today, and finds these topics as intriguing as they are consequential. Brennan fits that mould. He has covered stories of significance to social change at the Toronto Star, The Canadian Press, and others. He’ll provide in-depth insights, analysis, and reporting, covering a range of topics such as tech for good, social finance and philanthropy, and the future of work.Â
Katie Miller joins our team as digital programs animator. When we announced the next evolution of our editorial direction #BuildBackBetter recently, we were looking for someone to join us who has the courage, creativity, and experience to build and grow our audacious suite of digital programming. Katie has stewarded online and in-person communities in Canada and globally, and has immersive knowledge of the social impact world. She recently transitioned from a local role at Impact Hub Ottawa and continues to support Impact Hub network. Katie will lead Future of Good’s #BuildBackBetter digital conversations series as well as the 2020 digital summit.Â
Since our launch in January 2019, Future of Good has quickly become Canada’s fastest-growing digital publication covering the social impact world. We are an essential source of stories, analysis, and commentary that make sense of a world in transformation. Future of Good content illuminates how technology, money, places, work, and inclusion are changing social impact post-pandemic — from social services to grantmaking, HR renewal to volunteerism.
In mid-March, we rose to the challenge of dedicating all of our efforts to covering the effects of the pandemic on the social impact world — now, our COVID-19 collection of stories has overtaken our homepage in total page views.Â
We know that in the midst of a pandemic, we are extremely fortunate to be growing our team. A huge thank you to our members, partners, impact investors and readers for your confidence in Future of Good as an essential professional resource for you and your team.Â
Impact-oriented professionals and entrepreneurs like you want to hear from voices they trust on how to navigate the transition to the new after-COVID era. This is hard, important work, and will require making sense of the choices ahead, listening, learning, speaking with people on the ground, and hosting conversations to understand the adaptations already underway to build a more resilient and powerful world of impact.
Brennan and Katie embody the spirit of building back better, and are hugely passionate about enabling a more equitable recovery.Â
Please join me in welcoming them.Â
