Fund Canada launches $500M campaign

New Powers Labs is launching a campaign called Fund Canada to direct $500 million in grants and investments to underfunded and overlooked leaders and communities by 2030.

So far, 16 asset owners and six asset managers have committed $482 million to the fund.

One of the primary objectives is to diversify the sources of wealth creation, thereby diversifying the distribution of wealth among Canadians and Canadian communities, said the organizers

For example, there are about 50,000 Indigenous businesses in Canada, which contribute $31 billion to Canada’s GDP.

However, Indigenous-owned businesses continue to face significant barriers in accessing capital, even as Indigenous youth launch new ventures at five times the rate of their non-Indigenous counterparts.
