Elisha Dacey promoted to Future of Good’s Managing Editor

I’m thrilled to announce Elisha Dacey’s promotion to Managing Editor.

In this capacity, Elisha will have a deeper role in shaping and leading Future of Good’s journalism team and editorial trajectory. Elisha will oversee all of Future of Good’s nuanced coverage, from what stories we cover to how we cover them.

She will lead the day-to-day management of our journalism and reporting team. She will ground our work in solutions journalism, ensuring that every story meets its purpose of enriching changemakers with insights and knowledge. She will also envision and assign stories that grow the audience and readership.

I look forward to collaborating with Elisha to elevate the vision for live journalism at Future of Good’s webinars and summits, and high-potential areas such as data journalism. Elisha will continue to oversee the curation and growth of Impact Insider, Future of Good’s popular newsletter with a whopping 60 per cent open rate. People love their snonuts!

“In my year with Future of Good so far, change has happened quickly, both inside and outside the newsroom. Making sense of that change and turning it into positive steps forward for our readers and the community as a whole is a challenging mandate, which I relish.”

Elisha’s Métis heritage also provides impetus to find a meaningful path toward reconciliation through journalism.

“I’ve been a journalist for 25 years and led teams for 15 of those years. In my time, I’ve worked in various roles and in different newsrooms, from small community weekly newspapers to large urban digital publications. My favourite time has to be helming the editorial team at Metro Winnipeg, where it reached No. 2 in readership in Manitoba at its peak.”

“Causes close to my heart include LGBTQ+ rights, mental health advocacy, and community health. I’ve been a champion of mental health support in schools and workplaces, I’m the former president of my local community centre … and my love for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers knows no bounds.”

Along with these things, Elisha especially delights in helping others stand strong.

“A saying that has always stuck with me is ‘Speak up, even if your voice shakes.’ As we move into a period of political instability, the social purpose sector is going to have to get louder and be unafraid to advocate for themselves.

“I want to help the social purpose sector find its voice.”

Over our last six years, we’ve seen that when people grow, impact does too. Since our launch in late-January 2019, Future of Good has become an essential professional resource for social purpose teams to make a more meaningful difference at work and in their careers. Our journalists deliver must-know news, insights and knowledge in critical areas shaping the next decade of social purpose such as AI, DEI, philanthropy, wellbeing, and social finance.

As a leading media, learning and research organization for Canada’s social purpose world, our insights, knowledge and analysis inform and enrich tens of thousands of changemakers daily. Future of Good’s professional learning experiences, such as the Social Finance Forum, AI for Social Impact Academy, and the Changemaker Wellbeing Summit, equip leaders and teams from diverse sectors with actionable knowledge to propel their work forward. Also, Future of Good’s research such as the annual Top 50 Equitable Funders and the upcoming Changemaker Wellbeing Index offer leaders, boards and teams the data and insights they need to stay relevant and impactful.

Future of Good is trusted and sustained by more than 2,200 individual and organizational members. A huge thank you to our members, partners, impact investors and readers for your confidence in Future of Good as an essential professional resource for you and your team.
