Video: Canada's Top 50 Equitable Funders preview
Tomorrow, we will release the list of the Top 50 Most Equitable Funders in Canada.
This is a BIG DEAL. We have been working on this project for more than two years and it’s so exciting to release it into the world.
From a personal perspective, this is the project that Vinod Rajasekaran, our CEO and Editor-in-Chief, piqued my interest in when he recruited me to work at Future of Good. This project was a chance to significantly advance equity and DEI work in Canada, beginning with philanthropic foundations, which sign the most substantial charitable cheques outside of government aid.
Charities often face significant power imbalances in the grant-making process. They are not always able to articulate, comment on, or suggest ways for the sector to better enact its values. That is why finding this data, measuring it, analyzing it, and publicizing it is so important. It allows us to celebrate the folks who are putting in the hard work and also to encourage those who are lagging.
It is a well-known axiom that ‘what gets measured, gets managed’. When foundations put in the work on their own processes and policies, the entire sector gets better.
Here’s a sneak peak!
