HCI, UNICEF Canada to provide $3.5M in mental health support for Gaza children

Two international aid organizations are partnering to provide emergency programming for children living in Gaza.

Human Concern International will provide $3.5 million for UNICEF Canada to create a space with 12 classrooms that will give mental health, psychosocial and informal learning support.

HCI is Canada’s oldest Muslim international relief charity. About 1 million children in Gaza need protection and support after two years of war. They are currently living under a tenuous ceasefire.

The ongoing conflict has destroyed or damaged 97 per cent of schools in the region.

Before the war, Gaza had one of the highest literacy rates on Earth.
