I’m excited to share that Shannon VanRaes has joined Future of Good’s team of journalists.
Shannon joins us as a full-time news and features reporter. She’ll be working closely with our editorial team to cover any and all developments in the world of social impact, from new social policy to changes in the charitable sector’s workforce to global development and humanitarian aid — and much more.
Shannon brings a diversity of experience with her to the position and has previously contributed to Maclean’s Magazine, The Globe and Mail, The Washington Post, Toronto Star and Metro Winnipeg, as well as the Manitoba Co-operator, Country-Guide and the Western Producer.
As a contributor to Bloomberg Images and Reuters Pictures, her photography has also appeared in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Paris Match and The Guardian.
Originally from Southern Ontario, Shannon moved west to Winnipeg after graduating from the University of Toronto, taking her desire to disrupt established narratives with her. Since then, she’s covered everything from international trade to urban development, colonial legacies and porcine coronaviruses.
Future of Good has been covering the social impact sector since January of 2019, and we’re now joined by thousands of readers interested in stories, analysis, and commentary that helps them make sense of a sector and society in rapid transition. These readers are changemakers from the non-profit, co-operative, corporate, social enterprise, philanthropic, social finance, academic, and public sectors, who subscribe to read our stories, attend events, and help us build a pan-Canadian peer community.
It’s not lost on our team that we’re incredibly fortunate to be expanding our team in the midst of a pandemic. That’s thanks to you — our readers, members, partners, and investors. Thank you for your confidence in Future of Good as an essential source of information on the rapidly changing world of social impact.
Please join me in welcoming Shannon to the Future of Good team!
