Open call for submissions: racism in Canada’s social impact world

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Future of Good is interested in learning more and sharing stories about racism in Canada’s social impact world.

We’ve reported on racist work environments in non-profit organizations, mentorship’s diversity problem, systemic racism in philanthropy, and more, but we know we’ve only begun to scratch the surface.

So, we’d like to hear from you: How does racism present itself in Canada’s social impact organizations? How does it affect you, personally and professionally? What are the elephants in the room we’re not talking about? How do organizational processes and practices enable or entrench racism? What does racism look and feel like in an all-online, remote work environment?

We’re looking for personal essay submissions from anyone working in a social good field who’s experienced any form of racism and is open to sharing their story.

A few guidelines:

  • Your essay should be between 800 and 1200 words
  • It should be written from the first-person perspective
  • Your essay can be written anonymously if you prefer

Please send submissions (or any questions about this open call) to our editor, Kylie Adair at kylie@futureofgood.co by Monday, February 8. If the piece is accepted, writers will be asked to go through an editing process. This is a paid opportunity, at 60 cents per word.
