Canada’s international co-operation sector reported $3.4 billion in revenue in 2023: ATLAS
Canada’s international co-operation sector generated $3.4 billion in revenue in 2023, with nearly one-third from government sources and another third from donations.
Data collected by Co-operation Canada as part of a new dashboard called ATLAS shows that the next highest source of revenue for the country’s international co-operation sector was revenue from outside Canada.
There are 408 organizations in this category, according to the dashboard, which combines T3010 filings with data from Global Affairs Canada’s Historical Projects Dataset from 2015 to 2023. Of those, more than half are categorized as “very small”, with under $1 million in annual revenue.
More than $1.1 billion in disbursements has flowed to Sub-Saharan Africa, with Ethiopia, Mali, Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia and Tanzania the biggest recipients.
Outside of the region, Ukraine has been the largest recipient, with a $57.6 million investment.
