Giving Tuesday draws in higher level of first-time donors: Benevity

Benevity, the Calgary-based corporate giving and volunteering platform, found that nearly 16 per cent of the donations flowing through their channels on Giving Tuesday this year were made by first-time donors. 

According to data analysis by Benevity, there was also a 9.2 per cent increase in individual volunteers this year, but a decline in the amount given per donation. 

This year, Benevity recorded more than $150 million in worldwide donations on Giving Tuesday, up from last year’s number of $140 million

Both last year and this year, United Way Greater Toronto was mentioned as one of the top non-profits supported across the U.S. and Canada. 

In the U.S. alone, the total amount donated was $4 billion, up from $3.6 billion last year.
