Inspirit Foundation announces recipients of Canada’s first fund for Muslim artists

Inspirit Foundation has announced seven winners of its inaugural “New Narratives Fund”.

The grant amplifies the work of Canadian Muslim artists in pop culture by investing in marketing, distribution, audience development and presentation of their current projects.

According to the Toronto organization, it is the first of its kind in Canada. Each winner will receive up to $50,000 to expand outreach of their project.

The grant comes following a growing attack towards DEI programs in North America.

Several of the world’s leading technology CEOs stood alongside U.S. President Donald Trump at his inauguration, shortly before he signed a series of executive orders rolling back DEI initiatives.

The effects of the DEI attacks have seen a ripple effect in Canada.

Recently, high-profile Canadian business Shopify slashed funding for its DEI programs, including its Indigenous entrepreneurship program

Earlier this year, Alberta’s public pension manager laid off dozens of employees, including cutting its DEI program.
