Community Food Centres changes name to Right To Food

The national organization Community Food Centres Canada has undergone a rebrand and name change and is now known as Right To Food

The non-profit co-creates and supports community food centres across Canada and advocates for policy changes.

Poverty and food insecurity in Canada are not scarcity issues; they’re policy choices that reflect systemic discrimination, Right To Food said.

A new report from Food Banks Canada this week shows that food insecurity continues to climb, but new government programs could ease financial strain. The federal budget drops on Nov. 4.

The Food Banks Canada’s 2025 “Poverty Report Card” gives Canada a D for food insecurity.

The data from Statistics Canada shows that one-in-four Canadians deal with some form of food insecurity, ranging from worrying about running out of food to going full days without eating.
