Make a mistake, I did

I’m always a wee bit annoyed with myself after I send out an email with a major typo or error in it.
I’ve been a journalist for 25 years and a professional editor for 15 of them, so having a glaring error go out at worst calls into question my professionalism and at best makes me look like a goober-face.
Still, there are upsides to falling down on said goober-face. Everyone notices.
Two weeks ago, I sent out a newsletter where I screwed up not only the subject line but also the date in the newsletter itself. Oh, HOORAY.
“DIVA! Your subject line mishap was actually marketing genius,” messaged Lynda, our marketing lead and all-around awesome person, followed by a screenshot of our analytics for that week.
My newsletter open rate went up 10 per cent! Hooray!
Embrace your inner klutz. Mistakes can be positive.
