Raven Outcomes becomes Otipêy
Otipêy is the short form of the Plains Cree word Otipêmisiwak, meaning “those who own themselves.”
It is also the new identity for Raven Outcomes.
The Indigenous-led outcomes fund announced the name change on Monday.
Raven was the first Canadian indigenous-led outcomes fund with projects focused on housing, health, clean energy, and jobs.
The portfolio included five projects that relied on community-driven outcomes contracts, ensuring that wealth was created in the community and stayed there, like the Minoayawim Health program, focused on preventing and managing type 2 diabetes in the Island Land Asininew Nation in Manitoba.
While Raven Outcomes was Indigenous-specific, Otipêy will be a multi-fund platform. It will manage capital and lead projects that can benefit Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities alike, while still advancing economic reconciliation and supporting Indigenous self-determination through investment.
The first fund it will offer is the Relèven Transition Fund.
It will provide transition financing to support the community-led redevelopment of faith-based properties into affordable housing, community hubs and other assets shaped by local needs.
Otipêy will serve as the fund manager, while Relèven will lead property transitions and community partnerships.
Relèven transforms faith properties with projects across North America, such as Centre St-Jax in Montreal.
