Two groups partner to advance accessibility and Canadian Para sport
A new national partnership is working to advance accessibility, disability inclusion, and Para sport across Canada.
The Rick Hansen Foundation and the Canadian Paralympic Committee have announced a collaboration focused on strengthening accessibility leadership, education, research and knowledge sharing.
The partnership will also promote storytelling and advocacy, while co-developing new opportunities that support inclusion in sport and communities.
The collaboration is part of the Canadian Paralympic Committee’s 10-year strategic plan, which focuses on preparing Canada’s athletes for Paralympic success while advancing accessibility and inclusion through Para sport.
Nine in 10 Canadians believe the country should be more accessible, according to Canadian Paralympic Committee data.
Yet, many sport facilities and public spaces continue to have barriers, with design choices that limit accessibility.
